Most students at Notre Dame participate in some extracurricular activity in addition to maintaining their academic work. Notre Dame strives to help students grow in their social life, expand their talents outside the classroom, and educate them to the fullest extent possible. Experience in activities is designed to help students satisfy their leisure, recreational, social, and emotional interests and needs. Student activities are characterized by extensive student participation in both planning and implementing these programs. Under competent guidance, students share responsibility for selecting, organizing, and evaluating the activities and outcomes. In all activities the development of democratic leadership and cooperative attitudes is a major objective.
